Who We Are

We are an education program delivering instruction based on a curriculum developed by the Domestic Abuse Intervention Program in Duluth, MN and Emerge in Boston, MA.

Our Story

Choice*Change*Consequence, LLC was formed in July 2013 by Sandy Thompson. The partners and co-directors are responsible for delivery of the programming and reporting to referral sources. There are no employees–only “owners.” Our reputations are on the line and we take our duty to our participants, our community and regulators very seriously. The partners bring over 70 years of combined experience in the judicial and child welfare systems which sets this program apart. The facilitators are familiar with the multigenerational impact of domestic violence on children and families, and the legal jeopardy abusive behavior may cause for individuals and parents.

Every year both co-directors attend a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education and skills training. The program is on the approved providers list maintained by the Family Violence Council of Lincoln, Nebraska and the Nebraska Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence. The co-directors are continually engaged in “reflective practice” in an effort to sharpen their facilitation skills and incorporate classroom revelations into the process of change. “Reflective practice” is a key component of emotional intelligence and in developing a better understanding of others, enhancing creative thinking skills and active engagement in the work.
